This year she is going to be "Batgirl". For most of you who know me know that I am not the Kind of Mom who goes to party city and buys a ready made costume. I have nothing against it just like to make my own. Same goes for party decorations. I have always liked different and Unique. So I decided to make Z a Batgirl Tutu Dress using only 3 things for the dress.
1. Black Tulle
2. Crochet Top
3. Glitter and Black Felt
The items you will need are
1. Piece is cardboard
2. Scissors
3. Glue gun
4. Something circular to hold dress ( I used a lemonade can) and a vase
5. Ruler or measuring tape
The first thing I did was cut a square out of cardboard that measured 14 inches long. It depends on the age of your child. For Z I wanted to be the tulle strips 7 inches so I made the box 14 inches since you will fold them in half.
Next you will wrap the tule around the cardboard as many times as you want. This is how I make the strips. They will all be even and measure 14 inches long.
Next you will cut at each edge.
I pair the strips in 2 per hole so that it can be fluffy. I also do 3 rows to make the tutu full. I start by getting 2 pieces of tulle and folding them in half and making a lil loop on top. Should look like this
You then start from the last hole of the crochet top. Put the loop side in first then tie it. You go all around then start row two.
This is after I finished the first row
Then after row 2 starting on 3
Once your tutu is finished you make the Batman logo out of felt. I used gold glitter felt to make the oval and black glitter one for the bat. First I draw it by using a stencil. You can print the logo from searching it in google then cut and trace on the material.
Then you use glue gun to glue the bat to the oval. And glue gun to glue the oval to the top.
For the belt I did the same thing by cutting out squares out of the glitter felt. And I used an old crochet headband for the actual belt.
Now that the tutu dress is done you start the cape by using a black T-Shirt. See my "Super Hero Cape tutorial" for this step.
I Also made Henry a Robin Cape! He will be her sidekick,
And of course you cannot forget batgirls pink Batmobile! All I used was a piece of black cardboard on the door and taped it with a batman logo!
Can't wait to post pics of Z tonight! Come back to see all the photos! Happy Halloween! 🎃
